Lake Ontario and Me 1969

Lake Ontario is the eastern most and smallest in surface area of the five 
freshwater Great Lakes with 4 times the volume of Lake Erie.  Measuring 
approximately 193 miles wide and 53 miles north to south.  The average depth 
is about 283 feet, 800 feet at its deepest point.  It outlets to the St. Lawrence River 
and the Atlantic Ocean.  Numerous outdoor recreation activities, such as hiking, 
canoeing, birding, fishing, and sailing, are enjoyed in the Niagara Frontier.
