Recorded in Australia, Fata Morgana is a spontaneous collaboration of Michael Askill and Faruk Tekbilek. The two had never met before this recording - only exchanging ideas by phone between Sydney and Rochester. The resulting inspirational compositions have a sense of spontaneity and communication - heightened by simple images and stories that were exchanged among the musicians during the one day of preparation and two days of recording. Ghassan Barakat, Ian Cleworth, and Rebecca Lagos also lend their fine talents to Fata Morgana, and the 15 selections comprise a full hour of exotic music. A desert heat mirage behind sand dunes is the cover photo encasing the oversized equally exotic insert.
